Return to Office (NYC)
Are there any rumors swirling around about plans to return to office is NYC? Obviously depends on the State government’s orders, but want to know if anyone has heard of certain firms’ opinions or hunches on a return date.

Office probably opens up to limited capacity post labor day (20-30%) and then probably September 50-70% unless second wave comes
Think we’re as efficient (90%) wfh compared to office so senior mgmt aren't exactly in a hurry. Also the question isn’t when we get back to the office its when will partners/MDs start meeting clients face to face. No purpose really if its all going to be virtual/zoom calls
this.
Same here
My bank said as soon as the clients start asking for in-person meetings, then the MDs will start coming to the office, which will then make us have to come in. So it's really all about when the corporate clients will start wanting to be in-person. What if the companies want meetings in thenxt few weeks/ Will we have to come in then?
traders going back starting end of June, phased in over prob 2-3 months. bankers likely around sept but also a phase in. no one specifically said there’s a possibility people won’t go back in until 2021, but it was hinted at basically. and this is all based on limited second wave impact; all bets are off, otherwise. also, continuing to wfh is an easy case to make if you’re uncomfortable. if you live in bk and are forced to take the L and transfer twice to get to work, no one can conceivably fault you for wanting to wfh until the air really clears out
Imagine if we don't go in until 2021...I would think you could totally get away wiht this if you claim you are uncomfy to go in..
yea, I think it’ll be an easy case to make should you want to. that said, mgmt will say there won’t be repercussions, and although I’d be thankful enough to continue employment in this tumultuous period, I could see group heads docking whatever bonuses are made available to those that continue to wfh. my guess is bonuses aren’t gonna be that good, though.
S&T going back on June 15th. Other banking staff will follow a few days after. Management is spreading out everyone on the floor and sending some people to satellite offices.
Personally I think its pointless to go in if you dont need to be on recorded phone lines like S&T
I've heard employees have the option to return to the office in September (or continue WFH) from friends at lots of different companies in NYC. That said, it doesn't matter much anymore.
After the events of the past week (MDW and the protests), the second wave is going to hit sooner than expected, and harder than expected. I'd imagine that any plans about easing social distancing will be re-evaluated by companies in a few weeks when the curve isn't close to flat anymore.
