Rooming with someone in your own group

Is it a good idea to live with someone who works in the same group as you?

There's an Associate in my group looking for a roommate and I'm looking for housing as I start as an Analyst. It's a regional office and I'm not familiar with the city so I'm thinking about living with him for a month (He's renting it out on per month basis) until I get acquainted with the area and find more long-term arrangements.

I personally think it's not the greatest idea. Your Associate is going to give you enough shit at work. Do you really need him to annoyed at you because you didn't clean the dishes? If you mesh really well with the guy then go for it.

On the flip side, you'll more likely cover for one another. It's always good to have an associate on your side.

Sorry not same group but same department. This department in our bank has multiple groups and I won't know what my group is until I start. So this associate could be in my group or he could not, but I won't know till I start, which might be too late. And yes that's my worry: if we are working together, I'm not sure if the risk of additional shit I might get from this guy after work hours is worth it. The problem is that any other available place I can find right now is too expensive and since I don't know this city or its properties well, I probably need to find some temporary housing first.

avoid at all costs. dont do it. you will hate the sight of him. Im sure you can find an average joe blow to live with who isent a weirdo.

I don't see why you can't be friends with someone who has a higher title than you at work, just don't let it affect your performance at work. Not a big deal, in my opinion. I think it goes without saying, but if he's weird or a dick, don't do it.
