Rough Draft of Potential New Design Colors

Hey guys, what would you prefer, the current Blue border background like we have now with drop shadows around the edges (Current), or a blue nav bar along the top with Grey along the sides with more muted greys to tone down the brightness of the site:

A or B?

Current:

Proposed ROUGH new design:

B - makes the navigation bar pop out more and site doesn't need to be that bright. Could be a lighter shade of blue instead of gray?

"I am not sure who this 'Anonymous' person is - one thing is for certain, they have been one hell of a prolific writer" - Anonymous

Agree with B.

Also, I would make the search bar is permanently expanded. I don't know if I was just blind or what, but it took me forever to find it and I can see new users not realizing it is there.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

I agree with B. On the topic of making the header flow better: I think I remember you mentioning in some thread that it would recede when scrolling down and reveal itself again when a user scrolls up. Might that still be in the works? Just curious.

in it 2 win it

this still on the list but lower priority behind notifications for replies...so that i dont have to keep quoting you for you to get notified that I've responded :-) ...and also so you can jump to those PMs directly from your bell icon.

also fixing the FB like button which broke last week, etc...the notification change is unfortunately not an easy one so will likely take most of today/tomorrow to get working...

So the new color/design may take a few weeks to a month before we can push it live.

Thanks

Not exactly on topic, but the current layout is broken when using Internet Explorer

(I know, I know, but I'm at work)

when you say broken, can you be more specific? just loaded in IE and lokos fine to me (only issue is Follow Us is hovering over thumbs up icon)

I'll post screen caps tomorrow, but the "right side" of the header (when looking at the screen) is really hard to read or use, including what you just mentioned
