R.R. Martin: The Rolling Stone Interview

Goddamn, it's good to get a peek into the mind of one of the most loved/hated authors alive today. George R. R. Martin, author of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series, opens up in a riveting interview with the Rolling Stone magazine.

It's a great insight into Martin's history and his views on history, wars, morality and mortality. One of the most interesting parts is how Martin differs from the usual fantasy template of defining what is "right" and "wrong" in stone. He talks at length on how in Tolkien's Middle Earth, a good guy as king equals a wise king, while it's not as simple in Westeros. And of course, no interview with R. R. Martin would be complete without discussing his tendency to unexpectedly hack/bludgeon/stab the most popular characters of the book.

Go give this interview a read. Whether you love or hate the books or the TV series, I guarantee this interview is not something you wanna miss.
