Rutgers student considering transferring to a semi target/target

I’m a freshman looking to go into equity research, is it necessary to transfer out or is it attainable (but difficult) to do it here from Rutgers? I’ve loved my time here and the only reason I would be doing it is for a better chance of getting into front office.

I think I would want to do it after sophomore year, and will in all likelihood have a 3.8 gpa when I apply midway through the second semester. 3.2 HS gpa and 1430/1600 SAT (97.5th percentile if you’re not familiar with new SAT).

How important is it that I go to a new school? Literally any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
