Self-Awareness: The Key to Success?

A few weeks ago I watched this Gary Vaynerchuk

about self-awareness (definitely worth a watch imo) and I think he really nails it. Though he is mostly talking in the context of entrepreneurship, I think the ability to introspect and act accordingly is applicable to all aspects of life.
Self-awareness at its finest is accepting your shortcomings and accentuating your strengths
I really really really believe the thing that's holding people back is the romantic version of who they think they want to be or who they think they are versus who they actually are

I especially like that second quote because I notice it in people all the time, including myself occasionally. Do you consider yourself to be pretty self-aware?

I was under the impression that the key to success is to enjoy life because they don't want you to enjoy life?
