Shaving - Razor versus Electric
I have not used an electric razor in a loooooooong time. The electric razors that I had used could probably be in a museum at this point. I am revisiting the idea of using an electric razor just so I do not have to deal with any cuts of any kind. I assume it would be pretty difficult to cut yourself with an electric razor.
What type of razor do you use and why?
I am using double-edge safety razors. depending on the model, I find it difficult to cut yourself with it. the more aggressive models are more likely to do it, but some are even adjustable.
love Merkur and Feather.
what blades are you using?
Shick with 3 blades I probably should upgrade, haha
When it comes to shaving brands, I think there is no one-size that fits all. Everyone has different skin, weight, technique, etc
Love my Merkur. Been using DE safety razors since college since a pack of 100 Astra blades cost about $10 and can last you well over a year if you use one blade every 3-5 shaves. You can then use the money saved from the blades to really go all in on high end shaving soaps and after shave products rather than the goop from a can.
that's what I've done. It's not the best maybe, but I love Taylor of Old Bond Street. In fact, when I go to London for the first time next year I really want to get a shave there if possible.
Use a Philips Norelco. It’s obviously not as close a shave as a DE, but it gets the job done quicker. So long as you don’t care about a super close shave, would recommend electric.
I just bought a Phillips Norelco. I hope it works out. I like the idea of no shaving cream and no cuts
I think you’ll like it, assuming it’s one of the newer models. I upgraded my Norelco to a newer one a couple years ago and it’s way better.
Panasonic Arc 5. It’ll change your life. Shave is super close, quick and easy
tell me more. I have thick monkey hair. Not sure if this will do the trick though.
Pretty sure the arc 5 could handle your monkey hair lol. Takes out a 3 day beard/stubble with ease.
I use a Phillips shaver to give me 0 blade scruff. I use a Mach 3 to shave my cheeks and neck.
Then I put on my cold eyepatch as I do 1000 crunches.
Shocked no one has asked what you are shaving yet? That makes a difference.
Regular 3 blade razor for my face. El Cheapo electric thing for you know what.
I have very basic needs, haha
Double edge safety razor and change blade every shave as I have really sensitive skin. I’ve found Nivea shave gel to work best for me, even better than the fancy butters.
I go down then horizontal then against the grain. Takes 10-15 minutes but my face is smooth as can be after. I’ll then grow a shadow for a week as I can’t grow facial hair at all before shaving again
gillette pro-glide. Insanely difficult to nick yourself with these blades. Can do it in the shower with or without shave cream/butter with little to no irritation
Electric razors.. are you shaving your face or your vagina?
DE safety razor for most of my face with an Astra blade. Clean up around the goatee area with a Gillette Fusion
Yeah, lots of people are recommending safety razors. If my new electric does not work on the goatee area, I am going to look into getting a safety razor
glad your electric worked out. What model did you get?
I've had good luck previously with a Panasonic linear arc shaver. The DE razors actually tend to shred my face. Not sure if they are good solution for me for the long term.
