I was intentional in not ascribing a political party to the attacker since there are Republicans who support more left-wing ideological stances (gender stuff, abortion, enabling illegal immigration, the anarchy types etc.) just as there are Democrats that support more right-wing positions (pro-life, lower taxes, stopping illegal immigration, deregulation). In party terms, these are the RINOs or the token Democrats that get invited on the "opposite side's" shows to be used as a strawman. I have no idea who the shooter was which is why I said I would wait to see more flushed out stories, I've since seen reports of where the shooter was firing from, pics of the white guy who was shot by secret service, even an article that said there it was a chinese guy which I think has since been retracted. My immediate sense was it being a leftist as we've seen the some notable instances of left-wing attempted political assassinations in recent years (e.g. Congressional baseball shooting by a Bernie supporter in 2017, the attempted stabbing of Lee Zeldin in 2022). Plus it takes 30 seconds to update your registration, PA politics is known for encouraging leftists to register as Republicans to skew primary results, and and there are reports that this guy had donated to Biden's campaign so this means literally nothing without context. If after all the dust settles it turns out the shooter was a right wing radical then cool, I was mistaken.

The bigger story here is clearly there's a leak in the Secret Service and someone/people in the government/intelligence agencies are involved here. It is flat out impossible for any random person to have scaled a building WITH A GUN while the former President is giving a speech anywhere in the vicinity. SS get there days in advance to set up a perimeter and set up a monitoring station to track all points of egress. There are 2 interviews with rally attendees circulating where the interviewee says that they saw the shooter scaling or on the roof with the gun and tried to alert SS but they did not or were slow to act. Multiple people are at the very minimum losing their jobs if not facing criminal charges.

State records indicate that Crooks was a registered Republican. Either he was simply insane, or a member of some extremist splinter group. It's a well-known fact that the political extremes of either side spend more time fighting against each other than against their ideological opposites.

The explanation for this comes down to Pennsylvania’s primary election structure. Some Democrats (activist types) register as Republicans so they can vote in Republican primaries for bad candidates to become Republican nominees and hurt the Republicans chances. It also confirmed that the suspect donated money to Democrat campaigns and it is rumored that he attended Antifa rallies.

Uh, take a browse of Twitter.  There are tens of thousands of posts saying exactly that.  So much in fact that Forbes had to write a piece about how they are worried that Trump getting shot is going to make him more attractive to black people, because clearly all black people get shot as a requirement of being black.

Also, you might want to take a look at what happened to Regan when he got shot.  His approval rating shot up 22% and he won a nearly 50 state landslide 3 years later.  So your theory about staying power is bullshit like most of your other opinions on politics.

It’s pandering and has no chance of becoming law, even if Democrats get a full sweep. Cynical move IMO and not the right solution to the housing crisis.
