Should we lead efforts to encourage women CEOs?

Today, only 27 out of 500 S&P companies are run by women. That's an abysmal rate of 5.4%. What should we be doing? Are women just not cut out to be CEOs? Or is it because of workplace discrimination, work life balance issues, or another hidden factor?

What's your thoughts on the issue? Should we engage in efforts to encourage women in finance - or forget it altogether?

If they are strong enough to lead, then they'll make the cut. That goes for anyone.

If you find yourself feeling lost, go climb a mountain.
 

Wall Street is all about the survival of the fittest. Since many women quit their careers for raising their children the pool of capable women in finance is reduced accordingly, but those who can make it end up making it. These days, women are free to choose their careers, so if they're opting out of working in business, they are making the choice by and for themselves. I think the one thing people (specially feminist activists) should do is stop talking about the impenetrable glass ceiling and quit sharing the moments when they were prejudiced in their careers. Those stories make some girls believe they shouldn't work on the Street because the evil clan of chauvinists won't allow them to advance. But guess what: glass is really fragile.
