Snapchat signs $100M deal with Time Warner to create shows

It looks like Snapchat is trying to become innovative again and raise investors confidence. As stated in this article by the nypost;

Snap signed a $100 million deal with Time Warner on Monday to create as many as 10 original shows for its disappearing-message app.

This news helped Snapchat stock rise by 1.9 percent to $17.88.

Now to get to some news about what these "shows" entail. The articles mentions that;

Time Warner said Monday it is developing short-form shows, typically lasting between three and five minutes, and will commit ad spending to the youthful messaging platform.

Do you think that this new venture into more media-based revenue streams could benefit Snap? A lot of technology companies are shifting towards digital content (Ex, Amazon) to diversify their business.

three to five minute tv shows.

Maybe they could make it a way to show music videos. Call is something catchy like MTV. Grant them the ability to purchase in app giving snap a portion of the revenue.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

Here's a better idea: why not pair up with PornHub to find the next big star in porn? You could even create a show a la American Idol streamed exclusively via Snapchat for free and make money off of ads for Trojan condoms and lube OR charge people $0.99 to view episodes and do the paid ads?

Or how about linking up with Netflix and letting people record there reactions to the latest episode of Game of Thrones (if it were on Netflix)?

"hightheta01" With the poverty issues and corporate struggles in America, this is the best use of $100 MM they could find? SMH

WTF is Snapchat or Time Warner supposed to do about poverty in America?
