How do banks judge how much stamina you have in interviews? How do they make a judgement on whether or not you'll be able to "handle the lifestyle"?
Assuming you have 2 candidates:
A) High GPA, Nails all the finance questions, smart kid, but kind of chubby/overweight (talking 10-25 lbs overweight, not 50-100). Comes off as sort of lazy. Great networker who reached out to a lot of people and easy to get along with.
B) Medium GPA. Decent finance knowledge but fumbles on a couple questions. Athletic jock-type who seems pretty disciplined.
Who would they pick and why? Do guys that are out of shape have a more difficult time keeping up with the hours than guys who are in peak physical shape? Does this not matter?
seriously man? if they think you can handle the pressure and stress then that would trump whether or not you're fit. Fat kids need some love too.
but there are plenty of people that are a combination of A and B who have a high GPA, nail the finance questions, are in good phsical shape and condition, and are great networkers. those will be chosen.
Why are there so few fat people in the business then? Everyone seems to be either a former athlete or very fit.
Is this a serious question? There are few obese bankers because banks are in cities, and there are few obese people in cities in general. But to categorize all bankers as "former athletes of very fit" is ridiculous - maybe if you change "bankers" to "first year analysts"

Sometimes you might have multiple interviews (on the same day) with one company but with different people interviewing you each time. They purposely ask you the same questions to see how you deal with repetition and stress. I've heard in some cases, a candidate might be interviewed by 4-5 people separately, and those 4-5 people might actually ask a majority of the same questions.
People like to hire former athletes because it shows they had dedication and were willing to work hard, not because they have a six pack. At the end of the day, you need someone you can count on who can nail the job. If you're fit and can't cut it, then you won't survive. If you're fat and nail everything, then you'll be a rock star and no one will give a sh**.
