Starting in London this Summer, Visiting Soon - What can I set up?

Hi all,

I am an American starting FT with a MM in London this summer. I am planning on moving about two weeks before my start date to truly get settled in (get over jet lag, get furniture, etc). However, I'll be heading over there to visit in a few weeks, and I am wondering if anyone had any suggestions of things I could get set up while I'm over there that would help ease my transition when I start full time? Should I look at apartments/neighborhoods? Set up a bank account? Find the best pub closest to my office?

Any advice or input any of you may have is greatly appreciated! I am a longtime lurker on this site and all the content on here has been extremely useful through my journey thus far, so thank you all!
