State Department senior officials resign

So it looks like a bunch of State Dept senior officials just sent in their notices. These were Foreign Service lifers who were around under both Bush and Obama, so it's not like it's politically-appointed ambassador positions we're talking about. Also of note is that the White House is saying that they were fired, in contrast to their statements that they resigned.

What the hell is going on in this country?

The swamp is draining itself

More likely just changing the water.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

Yeah. Apparently every year they submit their resignation and the new administration rejects or accepts it. Story about nothing.

Certainly hope that's the case. Even so, though... you'd think they'd at least have waited til some suitable replacements were in place.

Given Trump's current list of nominees, I'm not optimistic. Rex Tillerson seems alright, but Rick Perry to head Energy? And don't even get me started on that nimrod Betsy Devos...

Read up on Rick Perry turning Texas into a wind energy powerhouse-a state dominated by fossil fuel interests no less. It sold me on him. He's a good Executive-babysitting nukes should be a walk in the park. And there's no way DeVos could possibly be any worse than Arne Duncan was-I'd be shocked if she turned out to be. He just threw endless amounts down a rathole and our test scores, black-white gap, school quality, etc. all went dumpster diving. Tillerson > Clinton or Kerry. You can't possibly look at our foreign policy over the years and call any of it a success.

Cheer up, mate
