Publix is closest to me and has Filet for $25/lb. Whole Foods has filet for $30/lb and is 15min away.

Steak is great, good source of healthy fats and protein. Even has some vitamins and minerals too. Also think people who say steak raises cholesterol are full of shit.

One thing is I'm not big on these carnivore diets, so I would hope you're also incorporating other healthy foods like fruits, veggies, nuts, and high quality dairy.

Yeah also lots of veggies, nuts, goat milk kefir, grass fed milk and fruits and green leafy veggies.

I'm going to take a guess and say that most doctors would not advise you to eat steak everyday

Yeah yesterday was out of steak so had 12 eggs.

There's some evidence associating high intakes of red meat with bowel cancer. I'm sure it probably is influenced by how it's cooked (I know charring red meat is particularly bad) but ymmv and I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on this.

I have a high protein diet based primarily on chicken, fish and eggs. I love red meat but tend to save it either for when I'm going out, hosting people, or just on a special occasion. Sometimes at home I'll do a rare steak with fries which is honestly my favourite meal in the world, so simple, so good. I could eat like that all the time I guess, but I'd rather not take the health risk + spend that much money every day.

I would theorize another big component (I'm not sure if there's much research) is that the type of meat matters a lot in those circumstances. For example there's been several widely cited studies linking meat to cancer/poor health that the vegan/vegetarian types love to pull up which when you actually read them show they were using shit like hotdogs and other low quality/factory-farmed shit to make broad characterizations about meat products and subsequently claim their processed soy trash or rabbit food is infinitely healthier. I've met considerably more people on high protein/carnivore diets who present as peak health compared to the non-meat eaters I know.

Are you trying to gain muscle?

Yeah trying to gain muscle, lose fat. I have 3.5 months to do it. I don't eat fatty cuts of steak, only lean steak and bison. Although, my local WF doesn't have much bison which is odd. So beef most of the time.

I found my answer:

"Bison meat consumption is better for the heart and blood vessels than beef. Bison meat reduces inflammation and lowers oxidative stress. It may be a healthier alternative in societies where red meat makes up a large proportion of the diet."

I was supposed to go to the butcher for some filet today, but did some research and you guys are right steak everyday is not in moderation. I'll have it a few times a week though I think it is great.

Having a steak every day does not seem like a good diet for an older guy.  If consumed regularly, I would think steak would raise LDL cholesterol and not do much for HDL.  Steak has benefits but there are other ways to get the same benefits.

Yeah Bison seems to be the way. Bison tenderloin is nice very low fat or cholesterol.

Bison is crazy expensive though. It's closer to an aurochs than anything we've been talking about.  Do you know any hunters? Venison is crazy lean and tastes amazing too.

You want it every day or you're going to have it every day?

Coincidentally I just had a bison ribeye that was on sale, was great.

I was originally going to have it everyday and went on for like 4 days in a row, but due to this thread and after further research maybe think that is excessive to have beef stakes everyday. I only eat super lean cuts. The other day I ran out of steak and had 12 eggs instead.

I got diverticulitis which potentially could have been affected by eating too much read meat and processed food, I would highly recommend rather have a diverse food intake of food made of raw material.

I eat a lot of gut healthy foods and fiber so don’t think I would get this. I also take fasting breaks for 16 to 48 hours once per month with only bone broth so I don’t lose muscle.

How much red meat were you eating exactly?

I've done it it's fine just go for leaner cuts and pair it with a decent amount of veggies if you can help it. Light on butter if you must have it at all.

my favorite BBQ joint has sneaky good smoked turkey. they kill it, and it's probably better than their briskit.
