Super Bowl - Place Your Bets!

Is everyone excited for the Super Bowl? I know I am as it's looking like a great game! In fact, I've been keeping my eyes right where they belong, not on "deflategate" coverage (btw, when is the suffix "-gate" going to go away?), but on the game's lines. As of the time of this writing, they're sitting at:

Pointspread
NE: -1 at -110
O/U: 47.5 at -110

Moneyline
NE: -116
Seattle: -104

From where I'm sitting, the pointspread and the O/U is where to place one's attention. So, naturally, at this point we ask, "who is going to win?" Last year, I thought Seattle had a good chance of winning, but I wasn't completely sure, so I decided to hedge my bet. To do this, I put money on Seattle (the underdog at, +2 I think - memory isn't what it used to be) and put 40% of the original bet on the over (O/U I think was 49). The idea here was that if Seattle lost, it was because Denver put on an offensive show and took out their defense, resulting in a high scoring game. I think the same thing is true for this year, but now we have a better defense in NE than we had in Denver last year, which makes things a bit murkier.

What do you monkeys think? How would you place your bets? Or, are you all just going to say "fuck it" and make a bunch of prop bets on whether Katy Perry will wear a whipped cream bikini (18:1 odds) during the halftime show?

You can't compare year to year in this game. seattle let percy harvin go, and if memory serves correctly he had a kick return for a td and his play style forced the denver d to not play the pocket as harvin hits the flats for those wack gadget plays.

I would pay more attention to the title games.

Seattle barely won their title game vs a weak road defense who also happened to have the game won and then choke. NE has a much better defense than the packers and a comparable / solid offense, albeit the d is a bit weak against the run. Seattle is weak to the te position, ne has a top flight te.

Game is going to come down to defense, who covers gronk, do the pats feature grey or blount does wilson throw 27 interceptions again and can lynch carry the entire team on his back again imho.

I can't root for the pats and I can't really stand seattle but it'll have to do.

lets go seahawks cringe

Would absolutely pound the Pats in this game if I had xtra cash. Easily would put 2 or 3K on Pats -1

I got the Seahawks at +2 (-115)... went big on the Broncos last year, so maybe I'm still on tilt...

If I had to choose a prop bet -- O/U Gronkowski Total Receptions 5 1/2 -- Under at +135... you have to assume Seattle has been game planning for weeks not to let this guy go nuts on them.
