Tablet Wars

Alright, just looking at some figures today.

Units Sold

Apple Ipad: 28,700,000 units sold
Moto Xoom: 690,000 units sold
PlayBook: 500,000 units sold
HP TouchPad: ? (didn't release the numbers)

As part of the Tablet generation, you can tell most people are trying to get only an IPAD and no other tablet. I can tell why the IPAD is killer and it has a lot of features.

I only use an ipod touch and macbook. Personally I can't figure out one reason why I would need a tablet right now... But heres my question. Tablets are apples thing, why do these other companies think they can compete w/ the original tablet especially when it has the most features? I dont know if the other tablets or better or different or what the heck seperates them. what did HP expect? and this isnt a smartass question or anything but why would someone want any other tablet besides the ipad?

Hopefully since the price is going down we will see more Tablets being used in business and maybe a little in IT. I already started seeing tablets being used in retail and small business... How much is the price of tablets going to drop if these companies want to compete? and why do you guys think the Ipad has a 90% market share

Good call.. But we know we use our Dells as business systems and our macs as personal computers. Do we use our ipads and personal computers and start seeing more business with the other companies.. or do you think apple is going to step into the business systems too?

i talked to a couple retailers who have some great idea with tablets in the store.. You think ipad is going to be the only tab that sticks around?

Moto is going to come out with Xoom 2, which will be better than the Ipad in the eyes of many. Also, android software is considered superior in the eyes of most tech enthusiasts.

Lenovo's new tablets coming out should be pretty good. But If you want the best, Google Xoom 2, and you will see it should be coming out soon.

And personally, I really dislike the idea of buying an overpriced apple product that is extremely trendy... and have the risk of looking like a hipster.

You're right. In that case, Apple should have just given up back in the 90s when Microsoft Windows was thriving....o wait.

you do realize that the Ipad is not the origional tablet right? Tablets have been out almost as long as laptops have been out. Apple just made it cool to have a tablet.

original tablet , not original ...blah blah blah... it's all about prestige and beeing cool for most people...,.. Apple's products not just tech gadgets, but also perceived by many as an accessory, or even in some countries as a status symbol, as long as masses of consumers perceived it that way it'l be a winner
