Taking Long Vacation

Hey guys - parents planned a 10 day trip to Ireland this summer for my family that we've been wanting to do for a while, but has always been tough to align schedules with the entire family.

I'm 1.5 yrs in on a small ecm team, earned good amount of respect from my team last year dealing with lots of turnover and picking up a ton of slack with the shit storm of ecm activity.

Have taken a day or two off here and there, but really having trouble asking for all this time off for the trip because we're a pretty small team and activity seems like its going to pick back up this summer after I basically haven't been doing much since January given how dead ecm has been.

Wanted to see if others had anecdotes of taking time off like this, if teammates held grudges, you got dinged on bonus, anything like that. My team's generally pretty nice and I like my spot, but seriously considering looking for a new role if this is something that'll get held over my head or any bs like that. Dont care enough to deal with that, would rather just dip and go somewhere else.

I'll be going on the trip regardless lol but wanted to hear if a trip like this where you're largely unreachable has impacted others on their team / firm in the past, and what reasonable expectations are on the shit i'll get from my team

You probably have to select a backup, set your out of office message to contact the backup, and train the backup on your items before you go.
