I actually think the dude has a pretty shit life tbh. Sure, he’s not in poverty, but I’m not jealous of him at all due to the sacrifice he had to make in his adolescence that probably messed him up for life.

Think about it, he was 15 when one-time blew up. After that moment, almost every single individual around him the entire rest of his life viewed him as a business and there were various whacked incentives of adults and friends around him trying to get something out of him. Dude had on-the-record pretty crap parents and spent his developing years constantly traveling without building any sort of legit connection barring people that were essentially a part of his business in some shape or form. It would be like the only friends you have are your coworkers the entire rest of your life. Further, any move he makes is massively publicized and it’s tough for him to go anywhere in public or live a normal life. He also in all likelihood will never accomplish anything even remotely as successful as the purpose album, so he has to live the rest of his days with the best behind him.

He’s rich and women want him—but that’s at the cost of likely not having any real life long friends, a childhood, relatability to most people, privacy, his dumbest mistakes being scrutinized, etc.

This is also the cause of teachers becoming worse and worse at doing their job. When I was in elementary school, I can't recall a time when I hated it or my teacher, but rather thought my teachers were awesome. My youngest sister just left elementary school and her connections to her teachers were atrocious.

Bro, you're just a nerd.

I'm shocked professional welfare recipient isn't on the list.

Used my last SB for this. Totally worth it.

Gordon Gekko emerged just 2 years prior... I'm sure we all would have been suckin kneecaps to get into banking.

And yes, 5 year olds watch Wall Street. That will be my kid's first movie.

Batman is better. Greedy Gekko is just a man lost in the scramble for his own gratification.

More of the "lottery" mindset. People aren't growing up thinking about getting decent jobs and families. There's plenty of blame to go around, take your pick, but being "middle class" isn't something people aspire to anymore. It's really sad because while the majority of people can be middle class, only a handful can be at the top of the heap....the rest end up not making it and then struggle to stay within the middle class.

If you're trying to deprive people of their freedoms via economic control, this is about as perfect a dynamic as you could hope for.

I think you're missing the point. I agree with what you're saying, but I'm getting at something else entirely. The goal is to have people plan for decent careers and deliver pizza as a fall back or side hustle. Instead, the trend is to chase a dream, deliver pizza to make ends meet, and in the event they don't hit the big time....they're stuck with a shitty job. The terms of what constitutes middle class income or hours working, etc... are definitely debateable, but the overall interest of the youth to be in the middle class at all is steadily declining. The trend is widening and is very disturbing.

Who gives a shit what 5 year olds think about career choices? I'm actually surprised 'superhero' isn't on the list.

I agree. If I was a kid today, I would want to be a real life Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark. Kids these days seem to lack imagination.

Also, I'm surprised that tech entrepreneur was not on the list in 1989.

>says kids lack imagination

>says if he was a kid he'd want to be some normie pop culture capeshit

Also strangely absent:

  • Transformer
  • Ninja
  • Pirate
  • A ninja who beats pirates but he's a pirate too and he can fly because of his ninja magic and he has a pet wolf shut up Jake I can too fly

Glad whenever I can say this: that's entirely Simon Cowell's fault.

Plus, fighters are just Xboxes today, cool kids (the generation's jet drivers) get that the days of insane Spitfire and Tomcat awesomeness are gone.

Khloe - bruh

Yes but it is all about exposure. When I was growing up in England, footballers were all the rave and I wanted to be one for a while until my father knocked some sense into me. Now, I would not be seen dead being a footballer.

SafariJoe, wins again!
