The new biggest bank in Italy is....
... the mafia! Yes, cosa nostra leads the pack in liquidity and probably has the best accounts receivable of any of the banks in Italy as well. More on this in the story. Thoughts?

Well, with offers like those, you
I saw this yesterday. While reading I also came across 'Ndrangheta (not sure to to pronounce it). Apparently, they are the most powerful syndicate in Italy. They operate in Calabria, which would be considered a failed state if it weren't part of Italy. Pretty crazy stuff.
You know you're doing something really fucking wrong if being part of Italy makes you less of a failed state.
haha Very true. I also caught this too: "In September 2009 'Ndrangheta was accused by a former member of the gang of sinking dozens of ships loaded with radioactive waste off the Italian coast and of shipping radioactive waste to developing countries for dumping." Interesting business model.
Some people like criminals having to answer to a boss, rather than running around aimlessly.
On another note: this is why stripping the government down in the wrong areas is such a bad idea. Libertarians like to think that without government and central banks, life will be free and wonderful. In reality, someone else will step in to fill the power vacuum, and this is proof that transcends the esoteric and subjective debates. Every communist I've ever met called themselves an anarchist in polite company...it's code word for "dismantle / smash the system so WE can take over".
I'm considering creating a post about this, but I don't want to rack up more monkey shit. Someone else want to brave it?
