The Spill
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water. Here is a really excellent exposé on BP's numerous disasters and the epic amount of corporate assclownery surrounding the worst environmental catastrophe in American history. For those who think this problem has gone away, read this. I still don't understand how no one at BP has been charged behind this, for reckless endangerment at the very least.

Thank you for posting, I thoroughly enjoyed that. More opposing view points would have been interesting to hear but that would be a tight squeeze for one hour of programming.
As horrific of a disaster the Deepwater Horizon spill was and the bad rep BP had in previous years, I still never felt comfortable with the extremely aggressive media and congressional witch-hunt. It seemed at the time (only this past summer) that much of the American public had a grudge against anything big business -- alluding to the Abacus deal with Goldman Sachs and all the media attention surrounding that just prior to the spill.
Being strict and authoritative is fine by all means but it was as if the congressional hearings were on the verge of total battle with Stupak tying up Hayward with microphone wire while Waxman proceeds to stab him with MontBlanc's and Barton apologizing for the "tie-down" and stabbing and later rescinding his statements. The way they went about the public investigation was almost childish and very unprofessional.
The televised public outrage was also embarrassing too. Exercising the right to assemble in outrage is fine and dandy but for God's sake have some composure when going about it. These rallies are just chock-full of angry people who have nothing better to do than just yell about something that they will forget about in three months time. They get so riled up with emotion that all rational thought process escapes their mind.
Excellent find, though. I've missed out on a lot of PBS doc's lately, so thank you. SB for you.
