I can understand some of the things he says but I don't agree with a whole lot of the things he said. As a Black man, I do see and understand what he's saying but to an extent. I'd love to know what this man does for a living. I grew up in a impoverish neighborhood and yes there were people around me who were content with the welfare checks and all of the government assistant. But there were many other individuals like myself, and several friends of mine from the same neighborhood who wanted to make it out. Generalizing it and saying niggaz and Black people are such and such. All I know is when i step in for an interview, I don't think the interviewer will look at me trying to see if I'm a nigga or Black.

When you're sounded by positivity, you tend to make it out pretty well. When you're around negative, same tends to happen.

if you're 5'2 and you want to be in the NBA, ppl will always talk down to you because you're short and say you have no chance of making. but if you're dedicated, all of that doesn't matter you will overlook that. At the end of the day, the odds of you making it are against you, whether you believe it or not.

thats similar to growing up in the ghetto per say. when trying to succeed ppl will bad mouth and talk down but what do you do, do you succumb to their idea of what they want you to be? or do you continue to strive? a lot of kids in my neighborhood i see failed in mental toughness. But i know a lot of them are smarter then what they show. I believe if they are removed from their environment and place somewhere better, they'll act right.

Enough with my rabble, I know i got off topic.

No. I'm glad you made it out and you should be lauded, but he is right. Stop giving them excuses related to the 'environment.' That's the SAME, TIRED, OLD excuse about 'the hood keeps draggin me back in man!!' FUCK that. Take some responsibility for yourself, people. So eager to point at ANYTHING else other than yourself. Fuck all of that other stuff.

I definitely understand you on that and agree, and as I mentioned, a lot of the individuals I have encountered lack that mental toughness. Yes, they have street toughness but that can only go so far.
