Thoughts About Bonus Bananas

Obviously, for quite some time Friday Bonus Bananas have been an integral part of WSO thanks to Eddie, I've been doing Bonus Bananas these past few months in Eddies place and I thought this would be a good time to get the general consensus on what you guys and gals want out of it.

1) Do you want 10 headlines, 7 headlines, or 5 headlines? (long, medium, and bite-size)?
2) Do you guys want the short descriptions underneath each story or do you simply want it shorter with only the headline, source, and link?
3) Do you want the "Video of the Week" to continue?
4) Do you want Bonus Bananas itself to continue?

Tell me what you think! I'll be experimenting with Bonus Bananas in the coming weeks based off your advice.

I personally don't find them of interest, but they certainly don't bother me (which means I don't care if you keep posting them, so go right ahead!). I think for other monkeys who don't have access to news it's a good resource for them, but it doesn't really pique my interest.

and to put it bluntly, WSO needs more stuff like this, regardless of how useful I think it is. it's much better than threads like "hermes v. gucci belt for back office SA stint," if you follow that.

I love them. I think you should keep them at 10 because usually I've already 3-4 of them and then another 3-4 are of interest to me usually. I also have wayyyy too much downtime at work and browse the internet a lot so that might also be part of it.

I don't really watch the video of the week, mainly because of not having sound at work.

Regardless, I like the bonus bananas and they should definitely stay!

Where did Eddie go? Is he coming back?

Don't know much of the details but Eddie took on a new position and he's pretty strapped for time. That said, I know he'd love to come back to contribute in some fashion at some point in the future

10 or as many as you think are interesting, with the description. I never watch the videos at work (or otherwise).

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..

I definitely agree that WSO needs content like this (as I sit here and write up next week's BSD) that breaks up the monotony of things. I don't always post on Bonus Bananas but I think it's a great way to end the week, content wise, since it covers everything.

I think 10 stories is the right number, because it allows for enough bite sized bits of varied info to keep things pretty open and interesting. I do like the description too, this way I can pick and choose if I want to read a piece instead of having to blindly read it unsure of what it's about. As to the video, 'eh...
