Ticket Scalpers Scrapped?
Today, the Ticket Sales Act was proposed in Ontario for the purpose of reducing ticket scalpers and fraud. It is supposed to provide fans with greater opportunity to buy tickets to their favourite events.
Changes include:
* Banning ticket bots and the sale of tickets that were purchased using bots * Capping the resale price of tickets at 50 per cent above face value * Requiring businesses selling tickets to disclose more information to consumers * Establishing new enforcement measures to help make sure that ticket selling and reselling businesses are following the rules
- Do you think this is a good idea? Or will scalpers find other ways to scam people?
- Do any states have any sort of law like this put into place? Has it been successful?
I get the bot thing, but "Capping the resale price of tickets at 50 per cent above face value" seems kind of dumb and not easily enforceable. If someone is willing to pay up for a ticket that was originally bought in a legit way then so be it lol
