Tipping Landlord 2023 - London

Hi everyone, I feel like there hasn't been much talk about this lately but it deserves more attention. London bankers / finance people in general - how much are you tipping your landlord? It's been a tough year for everyone and with rising rates the situation isn't easy on the landlords either. As a landlord myself, I understand the struggle

I'm currently paying c. £2k in rent, was thinking of 10% during the next month. What are your thoughts?

That’s a MM tip if I’ve ever seen one. As a top rated analyst 1.5 (started 6 months early) at a top BB (think GS/MS) and living in top bucket area (think Mayfair/Kensington), I’m tipping 30% on adjusted rent (think media/council tax). Is 15% the standard in Croydon?

Bro if you have any excess money you should be tipping your MD, not your landlord. Don't be an ungrateful prick - your MD is out there pulling deals for the firm and mentoring you while your landlord just, collects money? Get your priorities straight bro. You're down bad if your tipping your landlord over your MD

Bro it's no different from tipping a waiter/ bartender or doorman after their great service. If a waiter has given you great service and has been super respectful and nice, wouldn't you wanna give them a tip for their hard work? Same for your MD. They've pulled in so many deals for the firm, have likely had a say in your recruitment, and have mentored you giving you a great start in the industry - wouldn't you wanna tip them?

I see it as way more reasonable than tipping the landlord
