It's no secret that trading floors tend to be meat markets. So when I first started working down there I already had high expectations for what goes on there. One thing there was no shortage of - creepy old guys and a disregard for all those lessons we learn from those he sexual harassment trainings that were filmed in 1984.
I thought I’d share the top five lines I’ve received while in the “biz”
Before I list these out - a bit about me. I am a female CS major who worked on application support for a few months on the trading floor of a BB. I like to think under the right lighting I look decent. What follows are some of the creepier things that were said to me in my first few months on the floor.
- :: creepy 60 year-old leans back in his chair:: “Wanna go take a break”
- ::on my way to the atm:: “i hope you get more in than you’re pulling out”
- “you look exotic - i bet you get really good tan lines”
- Exchange with a trader in an elevator
Guy: “Do you like milkshakes?” ::takes long slurp::
Me: “No”
Guy: “I bet you just haven't had the right one...” ::proceeds to ask me out :: - Exchange with a security guard
Security Guard: “you work on the 4th flr right?
Me: “yes”
Guard: “Yea, i know what time you get in, when you leave and what train you take...where did you say you lived again?” - ::valentines day card left at my desk:: "You make my pyramid erect"

I'm sure that's not the worst of it. Share some of the gems that you've overheard or ever used on another female.
the first could or could nto be creepy depending on tone.. if youre pulling out a little money then hes commenting youre not balling.. third is kinda weird.. fourth he was just making random smalltalk, dont think thats creepy

At previous job: [decent looking mid-20s admin chick walks by] (like 50 years old) Senior Trader: "you fuck her yet?" Me: "hadn't really planned on it..." Senior Trader: "good, don't. i'm gonna fuck her first." Me: "well now that it's a contest..." Senior Trader: "oh and rape still counts" Me: "you win."
fairly common exchange right there actually.

We have no sexual harassment where I work because the sexes are essentially segregated...legal, compliance, and investor relations are all girls and the traders, pm's and analysts are like 90% guys. Very few opportunities to get into trouble with co-worers at least during the day..the benefit of having zero diversity and a workforce that looks demographically like 1974.
Pretty funny stuff.
For most girls, the extent to which a guy's comments is deemed "creepy" is inversely related to his looks.

Have you ever wondered why guys say that minibar? Do you think they are legit trying to pick you up? Or could it be that they think you don't belong there? As in a male should have gotten the job over you.
This also seems pretty prevalent. Anyone think it's a common but unspoken belief that the higher paying jobs should be given to qualified men? Especially since, historically, men have been judged based on their ability to provide for their family and women aren't.
Where's the thread that discusses the things said about minibar once she left the floor?

"ive never went out to meet a girl at Starbucks for a coffee, and didnt eat her ass out later"
"listen to me buddy... your wheelhouse is commodity stocks... my wheelhouse is vagina"
"you see the new girl walking around here? if shes wearing a skirt and bends over, i'll get her pregnant"
"a turd floating in the pool is no worse than a series of poorly wipes assholes"
"fed reserve action is like a wierd handjob in the back of a nail salon...its amazing while its happening, but sucks and leaves u disappointed immediately after"
