I've heard stories of traders looking out the window and betting how long until someone on a skateboard comes by, someone in a sombrero, etc.
Seems like betting for betting's sake to me.

between 2000 and 2004 the CME and CBOT floors were absolute shitshows. My former boss told me back then he would routinely have six-figure days, and numerous other traders were making huge fortunes. They would hire smoking hot chicks to work as clerks; i always enjoyed seeing attractive blondes walk around on the floor wearing tight pants and CME clerk jackets. After the market close, the traders would do cocaine, play strip poker with their clerks, and sexual relations were frequent. Sadly, those glory days of the floor are now gone.
