Traveling while Living in London

How often do you monkeys that live in London travel on the weekends? I am working at an HF in NYC right now and my hypothesis is that I'd love living and working in London more than NYC because you'd get to go to different and interesting European cities on random weekends.

Am I just daydreaming or is there some substance to this hypothesis?

The yardstick I use is the flight time from London to Rome (~2hours). The distance is about 1400km.

Putting 1400km on a 'Greater Circle Distance Map' you get this: https://www.greatcirclemapper.net/en/great-circle-mapper.html?route=EGL…

You can travel to plenty of beautiful countries and cities. I use this 2 hour mark because between leaving the office on a Friday and coming back Sunday night, it is a doable trip. If you reduce this to 1.5 or 1 hour then it becomes even more doable.
