Trump's Infrastructure Plan
Anyone read the infrastructure plan? What are you thoughts on having state and local governments foot the bill, and relaxing the approval process for large projects? Amtrak is clearly a joke as it currently exists, and is in need of major improvements.
Limiting the Federal tax deductability of state and local taxes makes it more expensive for state and local governments to raise the revenue to do this. While we need a lot of work on our infrastructure, telling state and local governments to take care of it while hindering their ability to raise the revenue in order to fund the projects is counterproductive.
Personally, think the intention is good but the execution isn't great. Also, not really related to the plan itself, but the main issue with infrastructure is that the areas that need it the most have too much of a mature landscape to do anything in a meaningful scale/time frame. LA is a perfect example. They've been trying to solve the traffic/congestion/'overcrowded-ness' problem for years, but the issue is that there's just not a lot of room to build out the infrastructure needed, and the demographic shifts have happened faster than the plans can be executed.
