Upgrading to 1 Bed in NYC

I’m a VP at a EB.

I’ve always lived in a studio since I started working.

Pay just under $4k for rent right now in NYC and thinking about upgrading to a 1 bed which will be around $5.5k.

I think I can technically afford it, but really want to avoid lifestyle creep. But it is starting to feel a bit cramped, especially since my GF lives with me ~70% of the time.

Just here to get some perspectives and see how you would all think about it.
