Discussed this in the bullpen and have a couple of thoughts.

  1. This is an average salary, so tenured outliers are probably inflating this number. Doubt this is an entry level salary.
  1. This is all in comp base + bonus. Being paid Street plus mid-high bucket bonus will net over this amount after tax.
  1. The biggest perk is the pension and 7 weeks of paid vacation at start.

If anything this is sign that IB needs better benefits given the exponential increase in difficulty to enter and economic importance.

What benefits would make up for comp? More PTO?

This is “total comp” by the end of the 5 year contract. This probably includes salary, pension, and healthcare as well as anything else they define as total comp. One other point to note, most of the drivers are part time and it’s not super easy to move up to a full time position.
With those caveats aside, still a massive figure.
