Vacation home in long island?
It seems like a lot of the bankers I work with have vacation homes somewhere in long island. I've been looking into it just to see what it's all about. Does anyone have any experience with long island second homes or know from people who are in this situation?
It seems like it could be ideal after a good amount of career/salary progression and if you are partnered to have a 1 bedroom in the city and then have your house in long island. Especially these days with work from home it seems like a lot of people are out there a good amount to justify having a second home. Opposed to a situation where you go to your second home a few times a year.
Also it seems like you can do long island via long island rail pretty efficiently depending on where exactly you would end up? Would probably have to just get a lyft/uber from the train station once in long island?
I knew of a GS MD who has one. He’s prolly super rich though.
Don't live in NYC, but family has a vacation home that's within 100 miles from our city, and it's pretty great to be able to change your scenery whenever you want without having to book a hotel or pack very intensely . Being that close (NY to Long Island) gives you the opportunity to do every weekend there (or vice versa with work from home).
A lot of people do it. Might be tough now, as the market is white hot in the Hamptons with almost no inventory available. It's definitely convenient enough to go out every weekend.
If you want
Having a place on Long Island is hard to beat, especially during the summer months.
