I am seriously thinking of buying a Vespa to get to work or around London. After having cycled to work for a year and a half, I want to make the upgrade
The commute is not very long, and moreover moving with Vespa could allow me to - when changing home - pick one that is not necessarily very close to the tube station, thus saving for the rent
London is not as rainy as some people think, so in the winter and in the worst case scenario considering a 5-day working week I will use it, let's say 3
Insurance is also not bad if you have a safe place to park it
The downside is that Vespas in London are very easy to steal, hence need to buy good and resistant lockers
Thoughts? How many of you guys have it or have experience?
People tend to respect cyclists and they have dedicated lanes but you'll struggle on a vespa in London imo.
Theft may be an issue. If you're tired of cycling, an electric scooter may not be the worst idea. No effort, fast than bikes, you get to use cycles lanes, low risk of theft (bring it into the office) and can charge it in the office (no fuel costs etc).
I had the same idea, but as non UK citizen (EU though) insurance would have cost me too much, around 500 pa

buy a second hand yamaha or some other 50cc Vespa are overpriced and you'll cry when it gets stolen
vespa = no more after work pints
Anyone riding a Vespa probably isn't getting invited to after-work drinks anyway.
