Violence in Chicago

Things are getting pretty rough in Chicago. I've been seeing a lot of these thugs near my area, on lake shore drive. They are infesting north avenue beach and causing havoc throughout the nice neighborhoods like the gold coast, river north, and streeterville. This latest incident happened on saturday evening at a very nice area where northwestern med and law campuses are located. I sincerely hope that Rahm doesn't get soft and let these thugs run wild. The chicago cops should bash these kids' skulls, Rudy style. But of course the liberal democrats will claim that these thugs are victims of white racism and should be "understood."

In the world of the haves and have nots violence will prevail. These flash mobs by young african american youths will only get worse. I mean they can watch others do it on youtube and not get caught so why not?

Same sh*t is happening in Boston. No innocent people were hurt in this event (I don't think) but it shows how BookFace and texting allows hundreds or thousands of people to get together within an hour or so.

Think about if you were on the beach with your kid or having a cookout and this sh*t spilled onto your street. I live about a 5 minute walk from this beach. It's a nice neighborhood except it is right near a Train station so all the dregs of society can leave their ghettos to come swim here.

I realize it doesn't contain enough rounds for everyone in the mob, but it's a start...and my guess is that many would flee and rethink their activities after they or a friend of theirs was shot and/or killed.

Or they cross the street as slowly as possible to start shit with you. Or cross right in front of you on purpose just as your light turns green. But what can you do, run them over? If you beep at them, you'll have a brick through your windshield the next morning.

Same shit is happening in my area. These kids come on the train from the shit*oles they are from and cause havoc in the cities nice areas. I used to go on dates with my girlfriend where this is happening now, but no longer. They come in packs of 30, 40, 50+ with pants down low, deliberately cussing and spitting when they walk past your table or your little kids; I have seen 3 fights the last 2 times I have been there and 2 peoples purses were snatched right in front of me. Finally business owners went to the city about it and said enough is enough. The kids go into the shops and destroy shit and leave, running away paying customers, standing in the middle of the streets to stop traffic, etc.

The only thing the city said they could do was enforce a curfew. I wont go to this area any longer and its a shame for the business owners because that was easily $50+ bucks a week I would spend at one of the stores/restaraunts. And I know I am not the only one who wont go back. White flight will ensue and then the black community will call racisim. There is a huge lobby here to keep the train from expanding into the suburbs...and we all know why.

Unfortunately, public transportation in Chicago allows the black thugs to come into the heart of the city's nicest areas. This didn't happen when I first moved here, but beginning last summer it started getting bad. I have a feeling that this summer will witness a major crime wave. Similar incidents have also been reported in boston and nyc, but chicago has been especially severe.

Of course, jesse jackson or al sharpton will never talk about this. And our nation's first black president will not have the audacity to address black crime.

Very true. I'm actually a fan of open carry laws (as opposed to concealed...though I do carry a concealed weapon often)...(1) it provides a measure of safety for people in the area because visually it's a deterrent, (2) there's a significant advantage to drawing from an exposed holster (as opposed to one that is tucked and concealed) should something be going down and (3) it would give LEOs a general idea of who are law abiding citizens (mostly because an exposed firearm would allow the police the right to check your credentials if they felt the need and the thought that criminals wouldn't want to draw unnecessary attention to themselves by open carrying a firearm).

I have family and friends that work through out the law enforcement community and I appreciate all that they do because the job is not easy, not by any stretch of the imagination...but as the saying goes...

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Two groups that are not of the same economic stature should not be compared. There are more poor white people, but there are more poor black people percentage wise(relative to race). The unemployment rate is three times as much for blacks than whites. The only reason for this amount of crime being created has nothing to do with the physical features of a person's body, but the places they are raised in. Also, there are way more poor black people in cities than white people(poor white people are more common in small towns/rural areas). The reason why people are quick to point to race as the root of the problem is because the people who have been targeted historically are minorities. We are just seeing the result of that discrimination(which shows up in minorities more because they are been disadvantaged as a group).Look up those facts if you wish.

If we continue to ignore the history behind these economic disparities then we cannot blame a race of people for anything. If we continue to ignore media brainwashing, slavery, discrimination, etc. we cannot compare one group to another(though this does not mean people should prevent themselves from advancing in life for this reason). Africans are the among the most well off/educated people in America. They do not commit crimes nearly as much. It is an economic problem not a race one. Lets be honest, if there were a bunch of poor rednecks committing crime(which there are), no one's going to generalize those people and make it into a race problem. People would just write them off as poor rednecks. Don't do the same with blacks.

If you look around wallstreetoasis.com you will see tons of negative race threads. North Korean Propaganda and McDonald's fight to name a few. Many of these are started by the same people/

P of Z beat me to it. I'm fine focusing on 'economic disparities' but what does that mean? I can't take my kids to the f*cking beach until everyone in Lawndale or Englewood is upper middle class? I get that you don't what this to devolve into race-bashing (and I agree) but there's a real dysfunction in parts of the AA community and there isn't any way to stop it if we pretend it isn't there.

But to the focal point:

Unfornately, things in life will forever remain, violence, war, racism, poverty, and the list goes on. Just hope you are a light of kindness and not hatred. If not, essentially you are just adding to the evil that lurks whether it be racism, violence, etc.

I agree; things need to be addressed but it is the manner you go about it. Simply sitting behind a computer screen pasting articles about AA thugs does nothing besides incite racism. As I stated above you are no better than the thugs sitting and cursing...

However, getting involved in the community is what does. I help out with Boy & Girls Clubs in NYC. I see first hand where this behavior starts...and it at a young age. Hopefully I can impact 3 or 4 kids lives that will touch others lives. This is just one scenario there are countless other ways...

I love your typical liberal first paragraph.

I'll give you a little info as well: I also volunteer with my free time. I volunteer at a battered women's shelter. Guess what race 75% of the people are?

It simply comes down to people taking blame for their own faults/laziness and taking care of themselves. Until that's happens, the vicious circle will continue.

Where did I ever say this is going to address the whole picture? It does not and will not. I can see first hand how I have affected someone's life. Minimal yes, one or two youth, yes...Eventually though they will graduate from HS in a year or two and hopefully I can give them direction to continue to strive to break the cycle. Attend college and make a positive contribution to society.

I am trying to say there are systemic problems in the AA community that are direct causes of the behavior we see today. Most of that is not becuase of slavery or discrimination.

Do you think the chinese who came to cali hundreds of years ago to build the railroads did not face discrimination? Why is it when we talk about minorities it is only black and hispanic not asian or middle easten etc. What happens when whites are the minority in the US in a few years?

I don't hate anybody i just point out facts. Kinda like most pedophiles are white middle aged men but most violent crime is committed by black males.

The color of someones skin has the least to do with their race. Contrary to popular myths race does exist and if anthropoligists werent so PC they would admit it as well.

Everybody should be treated equally until that particular person regardless of race does something negative to warrant being treated bad. I believe most behaviour is innate and not learned. We just have to accept the fact that every culture is different even adjusting for the socioeconomic differences.

obviously if you go to France there are tons of white kids running around throwing molotov cocktails and rioting in the streets. Cultures are different.

calm down. I did not say that history is NOT a part of it, I just said that the RECENT history in the last 200 years is not the most important part. If you want want to go back even further in history to say the last 50,000 years and the environments that each racial group developed in then i would say lets do that, because that has more of a relation to today than the last 200 years.

Okay well if "whites" had not colonized sub saharan africa then they would most likely be further behind than they are now. And NO dont go saying i am justifying colonization or slavery because those were different times and at one point in history the entire continent of europe (see all white people) were slaves.

Sub saharan Africa did not even have the wheel until europeans showed up and still lived in mud huts with no cities no written language etc etc until they arrived en masse. Would you like to talk about those facts? I didnt think so. They just lived a different life at that point in history and I am not saying it was any better or any worse than the european lifestyle in that time period.

Try not to pull the one thing out of my entire post that you can argue about and try to paint me in a different light. Try to address my entire post and each idea in it please.

Good point, they could be living in the booming Utopia of sub Sahara Africa!!

Is slavery really the reason young black children don't even show up for class? Really?

How is it minorities, including African Americans (not black Americans, but the ones that have actually touched the soil in Africa) come here with virtually no money, from Nigeria, Sudan, etc where they were hungry and had to walk miles upon miles everyday just to get to a one room school are better educated than the blacks that live in the ghettos of American cities who have city buses and school lunches and air conditioned gymnasiums, etc.? It just doesn't add up.

There is a bias towards white people. We do not talk about white culture and how it promotes greed/pleasure which results in disorderly behavior(lack of maturity, greed,violence,etc.). I never said other cultures don't have greed. All cultures have greed, but the same things that people are saying negatively impact African American culture affect white culture too. So why is this a race issue? It's an economic one.

BTW people are not cars so don't make the comparison. Apples and Oranges.

The poorer the people, the more crime there is. Latinos commit plenty of crime, but we should not generalize them. MS-13 have enormous influence in California and through out the country. They traffic tons of drugs into the country and commit all kinds of crazy times(amputating people, blowing stuff up,etc.). MS-13 members are comprised of poor people many of which are illegal immigrants. They come from poor backgrounds and are raised in them. That is why they are committing crimes. Black culture does not promote violence, learn about it instead of generalizing it. It is the culture of poverty that makes people hungry and do bad things. Re-read what I said instead of repeating practically the same thing and generalizing. I hate government handouts.

There is a bias towards white people. We do not talk about white culture and how it promotes greed/pleasure which results in disorderly behavior(lack of maturity, greed,violence,etc.). Exploiting third world countries for their mineral resources, brainwashing them, feeding them Christian nonsense, subtle white-superiority, and destroying tons of things shouldn't count of white people?Wake up. We should not do the same for blacks.

Liberal Alert!!

So what is your solution? You liberals are so full of criticisms that you can't manage any space for solutions.

Again, if this problem is simply a result of poverty...then how come all poor people don't commit crimes?!?

Ok, look. Here is the reality of the situation. This post was made because shit is popping off like whoa in Chicago and bitches be getting fucked up and their evenings ruined by hoodlums.

Look at it this way. If I told you, "Blue cars are driving down side walks running motherfuckers over everywhere in this town for the last few months." I am not making a value judgment about the car. I am describing the car in the best way I know to describe it. It is a blue car. That does not mean I hate blue cars. It does not mean that I think blue cars hold less value than red cars. It just means that the cars running bitches over on the sidewalk are fucking blue. Its an adjective. Its a descriptor. I really don't have any obligation to pontificate about why blue cars seem to have less control or worse steering than red cars. I am just conveying the facts of what happened to people who may not know.

CPH, the "economic disparities" argument's a bit of a red herring. It's more about a feeling (with emphasis) of limited opportunities. I think that's where 203's point about % of black people who are poor comes in. Ironically, many programs ostensibly designed to alleviate these disparities only make things worse, as I'm sure you'll agree.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Wx5PYZIWcQ

I'm sure there's some institutionalized discrimination going on, but I don't see a way to speed up its destruction and most efforts seem to entrench it.

2 interesting points I can chip in here.

Guess what ethnic group has the largest number of single mothers (read no father figure in the home), and some people will know how harsh a life is in an environment with no money.

A statistic I saw in the 2008 elections, 97% of black people voted for obama. Imagine the riots if the whites did the opposite.

Roughly 90% of black voters vote for the Democratic candidate in plenty of elections.

This is the point I have (attempted) previously made. A lack of income isn't going to help most situations, but it's dishonest to say that poverty is a cause of all this destructive behavior because not everyone in poverty commits crimes. In the same vein, you can't say that poor people (in this case inner city blacks) don't know about their potential opportunities because they are poor...simply because some (maybe many) have come from the most dire situations and have achieved prominence.

Instead of looking at a situation and making excuses 'why', people (especially leaders in the black community) need to construct reasons 'how'...how did so-and-so make it out while others didn't? In many cases you will either find a home that is fervently religious, has both parents in tact or often has one parental figure (possibly a grandmother or aunt) who is one of the two previous options, or both). The people from these backgrounds are taught the value of hard work and dedication and most often are the ones that become successful. And just to be clear, going to church/mass/etc doesn't make someone religious.

Again, you either respect the law and do what it says because you believe in the system or you fear the consequences. Sometimes it's a little of both. Typically when you are young, it's the latter, as you age it becomes more of the former.

Anyone saying that poverty causes crime is an IDIOT.
http://mindbodypolitic.com/2010/01/05/recession-brings-fall-in-crime-rates/

Crime is much, much lower now than at the beginning of the decade.

http://cornellsun.com/section/news/content/2009/04/14/no-direct-link-between-crime-economy-experts-contend

Crime during the great depression was also low. Black people were far poorer during the early part of the 20th century, yet their associated crime rate was far lower. Today, 1 in 3 black males can expect to be incarcerated, a gigantic jump from the early part of the century when the incarceration rate was equal to the white rate.

1911 FTW

The 1911 is probably the most popular style handgun in the world. I just don't like the size and grip. I would take a high point over them for home defense, but for concealed/open carry nothing can beat the makarov or any kel tec.

Eh, I tend to disagree. If we are strictly speaking full size 1911s then yes, conceal is tough but if you look at stuff like the Kimber Pro and Ultra Carry models, those are solid and easily concealed.

1911's although some don't like the weight they are an excellent piece for home protection and equally available in compacts for personal protection. Springfield EMP for personal is about as much as anyone would ever need and not heavy at all. Kimber is too $$$ for what you get now. For that kind of money Les Baer, Wilson Combat or Nighthawk are better products.

It's nice when you can put your own touch on a high quality piece. If you ever have to duff/threaten a man/prostitute, do it in style.

Also the weight does a good job of taming the .45 recoil.

Good point. We should simply ignore it and the problem will just go away on it's own.

I was actually surprised that no one really talked about the events that occurred in Miami over Memorial Day weekend at the annual Urban Beach Weekend.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/05/30/2242766/activists-ask-if-urban-week-has.html

Obviously the event is open to anyone but it has been characterized as "Black Beach Weekend" (see URL name below)

http://www.blackbeachweek.com/urbanbeachweek1.html

For those you from the south and/or familiar with the event, Urban Beach Weekend is similar to Freaknik, which was pushed out of Atlanta after having some serious problems with overcrowding and crime.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freaknik

I just don't know how you can ignore this poor, dangerous behavior?

The craziest part about that whole thing is the founder, Luther Campbell isn't some choir boy who had his annual church picnic turned on its ear...he is a rapper, a leader of the rap group 2 Live Crew, has been produced adult films and was the ring leader in the early 90's Miami Hurricanes football woes...so it's crazy to think that this event has reached a point where a guy with a resume like that says, "Hold up, it's getting out of control".

On a lighter note, he may be running for mayor of Miami-Dade County, lol.

Have you noticed where all the early summer issues have been? YES they have been in states, cities and towns where our GOVERNMENT officials REFUSE to let it's citizens protect themselves. The early trouble has been in anti-gun law states. Would this of happened on the Lake of the Ozarks? NO why? Becuase everyone has the right to carry. If you tried that on LoO chances are great that you will be shot in the face, possibly at 500' This happened New York. Hmmm. The other trouble is in Chicago. Obamas RESIDING state where he voted AGAINST the people daily

It's getting worse in Toronto, too

I'm a student living in a fairly decent, upper-middle class neighborhood and I was robbed twice over the past three years walking home at night, in one case literally 5 minutes from my house. The first time it was a group of 3 blacks and a wigger (two of them had hammers) and the second time it was two fine African gentlemen with knives on bikes (probably stole the bikes). Both times I was powerless to do anything, as I was unarmed and there were more of them...ended up losing my wallet (having to replace all the cards), mp3 players, cell phone. No injuries thank god, but you end up hating yourself and feeling like a pussy.

I know three friends who have also been robbed/mugged recently, one was beaten so bad that he received a concussion and spent a week in the hospital. Concussion are bad for the brain, yo. The other two friends didn't bother calling the police and I only called 911 the second time I got robbed, leading me to believe there's MANY unreported crimes and that the real crime rate is actually much higher.

I'm an immigrant from Eastern Europe so I can't say shit about immigration but honestly...if I was an ethnic Canadian, born here, I'd be fucking pissed even more! Why are they letting these people into the country!? There's always problems with the Blacks and Latinos, Arabs like to stir shit up too sometimes; Indians and Russians/Eastern Europeans commit a lot of non-violent crime like tax evasion/avoidance, satellite signal theft, student loan and insurance fraud, in suburbia they steal electricity and fuck with the power meters, etc...they should have a strict quota on immigration, WAY less than it is now, and limit it exclusively to Western Europe, and developed East Asia if there are any slots left over.

TL;DR - crime's getting worse in Toronto, got robbed twice, immigration policy is ridiculous.

I'm stoked this fine day.

Haha, this must be real...or at least it would explain why people are stabbing folks in the parking lot instead of inside the restaurant. I love my dub nugs as much as the next guy, but I don't know if I would cut a bitch for them, lol.

This is disappointing to hear. Streeterville, Gold Coast, River North, etc. were my old stomping grounds (miss Fox & Obel). It didn't seem that bad when I was there a few years ago.
