someone in my orientation zoom call accidentally unmuted their mic for like a solid 5 seconds and was making weird monkey sounds. a handful of HR people were on there and definetly saw/heard it LOL
her reaction after seeing her mic+webcam on was priceless

MD reached out to the intern group today with an email like "welcome to x, hope your experience is great blah blah blah" and the intern replies all something along the lines of "thank you!!!! so blessed for this opportunity!!!!!"

This kid won't ever mute himself and everyone can hear his entire family bickering about what's for dinner. Also this kid seems to have a baby brother or something. A lot of goo goo gaga.

People don’t seem to realize that virtual backgrounds save from call to call. A couple people joined the day 1 orientation call, instantly realized their grievous error, and smashed the “hide video” button before coming back with the fear of God on their faces.
I almost joined orientation with the infamous “5 black men in briefs” photo behind me. Phew
I made the same mistake in class. It was the one black dude sitting on the couch instead.
Im not an intern but I have been spending at least 1 day a week working virtually from the local Mexican restaurant. Yesterday I was doing my normal routine with a few guys and had to unmute myself during a call right when the waiter blurted out "Hey amigos, need another beer" lol

Interns this summer in my group are fuckin lazy, not proactive, and don't take initiative
STEM intern here. So I was working on a codebase with this other kid who joined about a month later. Both of our bosses (engineer and software architect) hadn't touched the code in like five years. So he keeps asking for help with specific parts of the code, and my bosses were not about to answer his questions but I could. Apparently that made him feel dumb because he wrote a glassdoor review saying that the other intern "was toxic and was explaining things like I was stupid"
On the bright side I got a nice letter of recommendation for grad school talking about how I took initiative
Not an intern story but dude at my school last semester kept his camera on while railing this chick during class. Straight up legs in the air pound town. Worst part was it was during a guest speaker from a firm.
