It's been predicted by many (of the Marc Faber and Paul Craig Roberts stripe) that our governments will take us to war again to distract the population from their collapsing economy and the rapidly plunging standards of living.
On the other side of the world, Kim Jong Il must be watching these events between his sips of cognac and thinking "Better hang on to those nukes."

While I agree with your basic premise, I really don't think the American people give a shit about Libya. The Japanese thing has been keeping people occupied, but liberating another ME country isn't going to keep Obama's approval numbers from dropping if the economy shits the bed.
Yep, presidents since LBJ seem to enjoy flouting the constitution and starting executive branch wars without congressional declarations. Look for BO's numbers to pop 3% or so and then slip back down in a few weeks.
He needs to regroup. The healthcare law took a lot out of him. With the Republicans holding the House and the assault against government workers and public unions, he needs to start putting some positive Dem issues out there.The Unions were never going to vote Republican, but many fiscally conservative Dem's have started to think about leaning towards the middle ground Republican side I think.
This President has come back to earth real fast. If you adjust his approval ratings by removing the unnaturally high black approval rating, Obama looks pretty bad honestly. He is around 40-45% right now and that includes about a 95% approval rating among blacks. With them adjusted to normal levels, BO's real approval is 30's.
I joke around with my Dem friends and ask them what BO's margin of victory was among white voters. Then I tell them he lost it 45-55. Of course every Dem president since Carter has lost it, but look for 2012 to be way more racialized than 2008. It's not good for the country, but when the economy is bad these "who, whom?" kinds of ugly tribal politics are going to dominate.
I've got no animus against BO. It's a shame, really, as Carter was similarly delivered a painful postwar stagflationary economy after our disaster in Nam. He was doomed to be a one-termer the day he started.
The republicans said they would repeal hcr and never did. wtf? I also see republicans increasing taxes and giving increases to their mistresses. wtf? I see Obama filling out brackets and bombing countries that dont mean anything. wtf? Why don't we all just become politicians and save the country from idiots instead of bankers? Still get to play with money and have tons of power. The only war with East Asia I know of is with Asian men. We have been stealing their woman since 1945!
