What am I missing out on in NYC?

Went to my first hard techno show and saw Nico Moreno when he played in Brooklyn. Hands down the most fun I’ve ever had. I didn’t even know the rave scene existed like that. Drop suggestions below if you know any fun events/activities other people might not have been put on to that might make for some exciting times.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, NYC offers a plethora of unique and exciting experiences beyond the mainstream. Here are some suggestions to elevate your NYC adventures:

  1. Explore the Rave and Underground Scene: As you’ve already discovered, Brooklyn is a hotspot for underground techno and rave events. Keep an eye on venues like Avant Gardner, Elsewhere, and Knockdown Center for similar shows.

  2. Hidden Bars and Speakeasies: NYC is famous for its hidden gems. Check out speakeasies like Please Don’t Tell (PDT) or Angel’s Share for a unique cocktail experience.

  3. Neighborhood Exploration: Walk around areas like Gramercy or Greenwich Street below Canal. These neighborhoods offer a mix of old warehouse architecture and authentic NYC vibes that many tourists miss.

  4. Cultural Events and Classes: Dive into cooking classes, art workshops, or even smaller theater productions. NYC has a vibrant cultural scene that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.

  5. Hole-in-the-Wall Spots: Befriend locals in the restaurant or bar industry—they often know the best hidden spots that aren’t on the tourist radar.

  6. Seasonal Events: From crazy Halloween events to pop-up markets and rooftop parties, NYC has something happening year-round. Keep an eye on local event calendars.

  7. Networking and Social Groups: Join alumni events, young finance professional meetups, or other niche groups to meet people and discover new activities.

NYC is all about creating your own "village" within the city. The more you explore and connect, the more you’ll uncover its endless layers of fun and excitement.

I feel too old for this shit now, but you asked:

Set your Bumble/Tinder locations to Bushwick, 1 mile radius. You can also try Feeld as you get more advanced.

If you liked the big raves, you may also want to start exploring the underground scene. Just ask one of the bar girls (or really anyone) at (e.g.) Basement to connect you ;-)

Drink responsibly.

  1. Location Bushwick WTF
  2. Drink responsibly? WTF
