What are LDPs and General Management like?

Looking through multiple MBA employment reports and a lot of their alumni go into general management and leadership development programs.

What are these roles like? Are you simply a higher-up at a F500 company?

What are the hours and compensation like in many of these roles? Similar to strategy/development?
