What are the best stocks of all time?

From Quora, the OP asked the following question:

What are the best stocks of all time?

Some of the top answers were:

MSFT and AAPL. MSFT grew 50,000% during the 1990s. Although Apple has substantially grown in the past 7 years, it is yet to catch up with Microsoft when you take the returns from their respective starting points ;-).

Look at the overall market in the meantime (red line).

My vote would also go to Berkshire Hathaway, which has returned an average of 20.3% per year for the last 44 years.

A modest $10K investment 44 years ago would be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $34 million today.

Coca Cola.

The company went public in 1919 at $40 a share.

Anybody who bought one share at the time... and continuously reinvested dividends would today have shares worth over $5 million (and earning a dividend of over $150K per year)....

Besides, this extraordinary return of 14% compounded for nearly a century, Coca Cola has some other things going for it, which ensure that it will continue to do well in the future:
