What are the characteristics of people who make it to (or near) the top of large companies?
This question is intentionally vague, and it is not meant to pertain to any one industry in particular.
Most large companies hire thousands of entry-level graduates. However, as you move up the pyramid, there is less room for promotions, and only a select few can make it to (or near) the top. I'm sure plenty of books have been written about this topic, but in your personal experiences, how would you characterize the people who attain high ranks at large companies?
