What Daily Supplements to Take for Overall Health

Hey guys,

Okay so, I am curious to see what many of you take as daily supplements (NOT WORKOUT SUPPLEMENTS), since many of you have demanding, stressful, tiring jobs, 60+ hour week loads (investment bankers, analysts, etc).

You don't necessarily have to be in the field of business or whatever, I am just curious to see what many of who are grinding take daily to maintain or improve your overall health, give energy, clarity in mind, whatever.

I pretty much only take Fish oil, Vitamin D, and melatonin (night before).

I've heard many things, from microdosing on LSD (which of course isn't what I want to do), to taking B-12 and 5-HTP (for high stress jobs). I've read some stuff on nootropics as well, and seen people take literally a handful of supplements and just stuffs it all in their mouths, which looks absolutely ridiculous

What do you guys take?

I have a passive interest in nootropics but there's allot of conflicting data about allot of those products and the benefits seem lack luster for the price tags. An easily absorbable multivitamin and protein powder. Casein Protein is really just a dietary supplement. And of course caffeine.

“The only thing I know is that I know nothing, and i am no quite sure that i know that.” Socrates

Personally i think adding melatonin is a bad idea if used for sleep. You will likely develop a tolerance over time and will likely have trouble sleeping if you don't have it / fogot it at some point. I only it for emergencies or if I haven't slept well lately which is pretty rare, never more than 25mg. Would suggust trying to improve sleep habbits before considering use.

Rib eye steak. The original "male vitality supplement".

I think the original 'male vitality supplement' is caviar.

I don't take supplements for the fear that if I happen to end up on a deserted island, my body will weaken because it's "used to" certain vitamin intakes.

For me, this logic also applies to caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs.
Anything that knocks my natural stasis off balance is a no go.

Hence why my general doctor (who has over 20k patients) said I am "undoubtedly the healthiest patient he has." If more Americans were like me, we wouldn't have to pay for so much nonsense entitlements/medicare/aid. Shame.

Any of you dudes on TRT? I'm only 25 and have no reason to think I have low T, but I keep hearing from older dudes how amazing it is and sort of want to get in on that...

I don't think I have low T. I'm 34. But, I want raging high T. So I take a few things to help.

  • Nitraflex preworkout
  • Enhancing foods

https://www.healthline.com/health/low-testosterone/boosting-food From this list, I eat eggs a lot, tuna sometimes, oysters/shellfish sometimes, beans daily, red meat every other day

http://www.menshealth.co.uk/food-nutrition/eat-up-to-man-up some other foods

Also, as touched in the first website, Vitamin D is important. Sunlight definitely helps and supplements of Vitamin D are encouraged. My previous full time trainer had me on D3 at 5000-20,000/IU per day. On heavy days I take 15,000IU and need at least 5,000IU minimum.

My nutrition, intake, and diet are fairly complex though. I'm currently in the gym/MMA training 10-15hrs per week.

Sometimes I think MS is very petty.

When talking about science or nutrition if you disagree there is nothing wrong with it but be sure to bring it up so both of us can gain a stronger grasp on the subject.

On WSO when people go off their rocker or say inappropriate things, i'm sure MS is fine, but its perturbing to me when having a discussion on here that people neglect to address the issue in words.

We are all guests here on this place called earth. Every day we may learn how to live it just a little bit better.

I have been getting quarterly comprehensive blood tests & that has really driven my vitamins/supplements. Daily: Probiotics, krill oil, vite D, Alpha Brain & New Mood by Onnit.

Maybe vite B12 if I had something to drink. & Vitamin C if I'm feeling under the weather

I avoid everything else, including Tylenol, synthetic protein (whey protien powders), preworkouts, energy drinks etc.

Multivitamin, fish oil, ZMA, creatine. Some fatburner when I'm cutting (mostly for energy, they probably don't add more than 1-2% in actual burning value). I use pre-workout pre gym and BCAA's during If I'm fasting.

Btw; No need to take your shake after the gym, just take it whenever it is most convenient. Best thing to take after working out is quick carbs (sugar). :)

Not specifically for working out but can help. Vitamin D (dosage varies by exposure to sun), Zinc, Magnesium, B complex, about 3-4 grams of fish oil, Vitamin E, multivitamin, and tyrosine (cycling on and off).

I don't take creatine, but you might want to check it out. Its possible to get a cognitive boost from it as well! Follow this link: https://examine.com/supplements/Creatine/ to learn more about creatine and other supplements. Some people mentioned fat burners, if you decide to go down that path make sure you research anything thoroughly. To answer your question above, now foods is good and creatine monohydrate works fine- you don't need the fancy stuff that's supposed to be easier to digest etc. etc.

Research every supplement to learn about its effects and proper dosages. Supplements can both benefit and harm you.
