European Equity Strategy: 03 May 07 While we were thoroughly positive on European equities two months ago, the situation looks much less clear-cut today. For the short term we find many reasons why the market should move higher but at the same time, more and more signals suggest a more cautious stance. We see some upside potential until year-end and without a catalyst for the downside, we see markets gradually grinding higher in the short term, but the risk of another correction has risen. We expect volatility to have bottomed. We tilt our portfolio a tad more defensive. We reduce the overall active positions and, in particular, trim the strong O/w in Financials and Oil & Gas. Our key O/w positions are now Oil & Gas, Insurance, Banks, Technology and Health Care. Our key U/w positions are Utilities, Construction, Food & Beverage, Retail and Financial Services.

What do O/w and U/w stand for?
