What happened to the markets today?

So the markets definitely pissed me off today. It was not a good day to own equities at all (aapl). There was also way too much compression in interest rates. Anyone long on interest rates got hit hard. The only thing that saved me was being long vix.

Is this seriously all off of the reaction to Syria? WTI is at the highest in 18 months but equities and crude have been very correlated over the past couple on month.

Does anyone have an explanation for this or is it just Syria? Was anyone long crude today? Any ideas about the rest of the week?
