What is your dream vacation?

What is your dream vacation? If you had a solid 2-3 weeks off work with no screen time what would you do?

My ideal vacation would be a few weeks in Vietnam. See Ho Chi Min City, Hanoi, Hoi An and take a cruise around Halong Bay. Spend time on crazy beautiful beaches and hit the Vietnamese food hard.

My dream vacations based on # of available days:

1.If I had 5 days or a longer weekend that I could stretch - I would drive to my favorite brewery in Michigan and go visit several places along the great lakes

2.If I had 1 week or (~ 10 days) - I would do a road trip through all of the big BBQ towns Austin, Huston, North and South Carolina,  Memphis and St. Louis to try all the best BBQ in the USA

3.If I had 2 weeks - I would fly to Australia or France (based on time of year) and go skiing

4.If I had 3-4 weeks - I would try and solo kayak down the entire Mississippi river

5.If I had 3-6 months - I would try and hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail

6.If I have 2 years - I would hike the seven tallest peaks on each continent.

1-3 are in the process of being planned

4 is on the horizon

5-6 are currently just dreams / will happen when I yeet out of banking

Breh, skiing in Australia blows. If you want to do off-season skiing, go to South America.

I think he meant Austria.

Honestly I don’t know. I haven’t been on a vacation for myself in my entire life - it’s always been study abroad or with my family.

There are a lot of things I want to do - visit Australia, Antarctica, do a giant Europe trip, go to Hawaii.

As I typed this out, I remembered one trip I’ll probably put at the top of the list. A trip across Western Europe detailing the Allied advance towards Berlin.

Starting at Normandy and moving inland. I’ve looked at plenty of guided tours which I’m sure are awesome, but I’d love to spend 6 months going everywhere. I love WWII and am almost finished with Audie Murphy’s To Hell and Back.

The other vacation I could think of is going island hopping and following the Pacific campaign

I’ve never been outside the U.S. (I don’t count Tijuana on spring break…). Any recommendations for someone’s very first international vacation? I think I’ll be planning to go on my first in the next 6-8 months but might wait until winter is over.

If I had a free 3 weeks, if probably just chill in Valencia, Spain the whole time and just make friends with the locals and people at restaurants. Meet with some cute local girls and just relax.

I’ve already been to 23 countries so have been to most of the places I’ve wanted to go. Maybe I’d also like to walk El Camino de Santiago sometime, starting in or near France and ending in Santiago de Compostela. My uncle has walked El Camino twice.

Definitely go to Scotland and then down to Germany. Whisky and beer baby
