What kind of chairs do bankers get?
I have been wondering what kind of desk chairs investment bankers use? Do they get to pick their own chairs? Just wondering how chair acquisition is done. It would make sense for bankers to get to pick what chair they want seeing as how they spend alot of time in the office. If you are a banker, what kind of chair do you have?
Personally, I sit in a Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair (with the ottoman).
The rest of the analysts were content in their Aerons.
My group is all Aerons.
I heard Lazard Analysts get these badboys: http://tinyurl.com/lmqzzj
Banker88 -- i agree re Lazard, but an NSFW warning would be nice next time...
saw Pininfarina chairs at one boutique trading floor. by far the most baller thing I know http://www.opentip.com/Tools-Auto-Industrial/Racechairs-Pininfarina-Xte…
I'm no chair expert, but seems a bit excessive....

More acceptable price with acceptable function...
Aerons
All the MDs have giant porcelain shit-cans behind their desks, from which they generate a constant stream of work and changes that funnel directly onto your desk.
Aren't less comfortable chairs more conducive to longer periods of awake-time (productivity)? I would fall asleep on an Aeron.
Herman Miller Aeron is standard at the MM bank where I work, and the BB trading floor where I interned. Getting the lumbar support is crucial...
I had an Aerons at my summer.

I think it's important we discuss possibly the most important thing about a trader's set up: his office chair. Traders spend basically all market hours (6.5/day) at their desk and then some, so having a really nice chair is essential. Discuss.
Thoughts on this one: http://ergonomic-chairs.officechairs.com/High-Back-Ergonomic-Mesh-Chair…
It's preeeeeeetty nice looking, but lacks built in cup holders and massager, so I'm not sure if I would get it personally.
It looks like one of those aliens in District 9......
I'd say a destroyer droid from Episode I.
JUST LOOK AT THAT SIDEVIEW
And regarding the actual chair itself, I've always been opposed to mesh, so the aesthetic beauty is a 1/10 for me. Regarding comfort, I'd just go to Staples and try them all out.
Don't forget a chiropractor, and best of luck..
Chairs at Work (Originally Posted: 11/08/2010)
So this summer, I worked at an AM firm (so significantly less hours) and will be starting in banking for FT. At like 60 hrs/week my back hurt like crazy from the chairs they gave us at work.
Just wondering how many of you guys out here either buy a backrest or buy an entirely new chair for work? I'm thinking about buying like a 200 dollar chair...
Is that even allowed? or do you look like a complete tool with a gigantic leather chair in the analyst bullpen?
i have a 700 dollar chair. my coworker roomie has a 2000 chair thats designed by the people who make maserati seatings...

I sit in an Eames Lounge with Ottoman where I work.
