My buddy's girl was laying face down on the beach one day and she noticeably hadn't been shaving down there and so much so that hair was on both sides of her thong. When a rookie Muay Thai threw a medium hard hook when we were light light sparring suprised the shit out of me. He got me good too and I should have beat his ass at the time, but just took the hit and didn't say anything and went back to light sparring and he didn't know he got me real good. I had bad ringing in my ears and couldn't chew food for 2 weeks.
Also, I guess training MMA, you imagine all the times you have been 'caught' or surprised. My other one was when I got hit with a spinning heel kick from a pro fighter directly to my kidney. I thought I saw it coming and I thought I had dodged it, but he clipped me hard with his heel right into my kidney. I think I almost ate shit, but held pride and acted like nothing happened. But, 6 months later I told him about it and he chuckled. His kick looks like its coming in slow mo and then he whips it hard at the end and it just caught me so bad that day. Honestly, people are scared to get hit in the face, but most direct shots to the face don't hurt much or you've dodged them 80% and you don't get the full power, but direct hits to the kidneys or liver hurts like no other. I remember Brock Lesnar going down from a liver kick KO, although this was post surgery for him as well.
