Whats the best job/career/industry that has a cushion during recessions and slowdowns?

I still got alot of time before the job hunt, but I always hear from friends how some jobs are going completely or slowly obsolete. Which jobs have the most protection against recessions and technological innovations. Even jobs that require face to face interaction on a human level such as lawyers are getting competition in the form of AI run robo-lawyers.

I do not know if I am answering your question. But typically Liquor, Big tobacco, and Fast food do "ok" during recessions. So maybe corporate fast food.

If you go to McDonald's you could apply to the MOST SELECTIVE university in the world. https://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-hamburger-university-2333

or Look for jobs at Diageo. I assume they will be in business forever.

The thing about technological innovation is that we don't know what is coming next.

Any job that requires critical thinking rather than logical thinking; in my opinion will be safe in your lifetime.

Robots have yet to make music. So if you are a creative try your hand at music. Although the whole entertainment industry is corrupt.
