What's your favorite part of vacationing? Planning?

I read that  study found that many people find the most satisfaction from planning the trip. This seems backwards. I bet the people found self satisfaction in planning the trip because the trip went great and it was thanks to their planning.

I like planning trips a lot. I'll admit I've enjoyed the process of planning trips I didn't take. Recently, I thought about paying for a pre-packaged tour but it felt like a scheduled chore.

Have any of you guys taken these types of trips? Are they as fund as completing your own itineraries?

I went to South America for 3 weeks with nothing but a plane ticket. I arrived in the airport with no place to stay. I planned the whole trip on a whim. Sometimes planning isn’t always needed and it’s fun to fly by the seat of your pants.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

This may be a little counter to what you said. Would you pay someone to prepare a custom "loose" itinerary for you. I.E - I they do all the logistics for you and give you options to crash, but you can do w/e you want. For only $35.99 you can get an itinerary that still allows you to fly by the seat of your pants.
