congrats. don't hide it and be proud. your firm should have a policy and they will honor it. sooner you let them know the better so everyone can plan accordingly. hope this doesn't turn into another troll thread.

thank you! I’m only scared because I just finished my first year and now I’ve got this. I’m so excited and it was 100% planned, but I’m unsure how my bosses will react. I get all my work done ASAP all the time, but am worried their view of me might get tarnished if they think I will slack off because of my other responsibilities. will they take work away from me while I take off, or will I be expected to still do certain hours of work? if I take off, how will I transition back?

I had a kid as junior banker. It will be fine. The MDs will respect you more since they have kids likely and will know what you are going through. I had lots of chats about kids with them that build good rapport.

The associates/VPs will be so intimidated about the thought of parenting a kid in their twenties/early 30's, you will get a free pass for lots of things. Honestly having kids isn't THAT hard but to a overworked 28 year old VP, it seems like the end of the world. I was the only person under MD with a kid in my group, so everyone was super intimidated by it. They will tread lightly with you. You will have some power to leave early/come in late when needed with little judgement.

COVID has been going on since November 2019 - That'd be 8 months pregnant

COVID fear has been going on since January-February - That'd be 5-6 months pregnant

WFH has been going on since March - That'd be 3-4 months pregnant

That baby is at least halfway there/already on its way out so if you are going to tell you better hurry. Congrats on the Coronababy though. I've also been hard at work with my girlfriend during WFH but no baby yet.
