Where do the smartest students in this generation go: Tech or IB?

I'm not asking which career pays more, is more competitive, or has better exit opps; I'm merely wondering where the smartest students end up. I go to a tar get that, although it's very strong in the physical sciences, is not great for engineering/computer science, so my view is quite skewed since there's a disproportionate amount of people here going into IB. Perhaps people at other HYPSM/T10s can opine on this? Thank you.

I would do tech and wish I had the tech pay and lifestyle and work life balance, but I'm not good at coding/smart enough at computer science. I tried it, but I just couldn't do it without struggling (I didn't have enough problem solving skills) . So I took my talents to a hedge fund

Neither, they start their own companies. The best examples are Mark Zuckerberg and Ryan Cohen, the advertising and retail geniuses of the millennial generation.
