Where to live in downtown Cleveland?
I'll be starting full-time at a MM bank in CLE (you guys can probably assume which one). I'm wondering if anyone has lived there and would be able to provide recommendations on good places to live that are in downtown. Also, if you could tell me your thoughts on the city itself, that would be awesome. Thanks!
My thoughts exactly... on the bright side, your rent will be very affordable for a nice apartment!
No recommendations really but here’s a Cleveland tourism video to get you excited:
Bro......at least the Browns have a winning record right now
It's probably more affordable than NYC, LA, CHI but its still Cleveland.
Chicago is actually pretty cheap.
Austin is probably the most fun among low cost of living cities though.
Why doesn't OP go to CHI or Austin. Absolutly no preftige. Is high finaance even a thing in Cleveland Ugh! I've never even heard of this cleveland before this thread that should tell you something...
You don't.
Long-time Cleveland resident here, so I'm happy to chime in. The above users are being overly harsh on Cleveland. Are we on the same level as New York or even Chicago? No, but that doesn't mean that there still isn't a lot to do here. We have excellent parks for hiking and walks in nature, some really great museums, a very underrated food scene (again, not on the same level as New York, but still good nonetheless), a passable night life scene (Downtown, the Flats, Lakewood, Ohio City), decent (although often painful) sports, above average shopping centers (i.e. Legacy Village, Pinecrest, Crocker Park), and other solid entertainment options.
In terms of living, you'll probably want to stick to Public Square (e.g. Terminal Tower Residences, The Standard, and a few others) since that's right next to KeyTower. If you are willing to commute a bit (heads up, our public transportation is lacking), you can also look at Ohio City or some of the apartments on Euclid or Superior close to east 9th. You can expect a solid 1 bedrooms to be anywhere between $800 - $1,500 per month.
Cleveland gets a bad rep, and some of it is deserved, but this city seriously has more to offer than people give it credit for.
Tons of new supply on public square or adjacent. You'll be near W. 6th and Flats. There is a beautiful grocery store that is less than 1/2 mile away on Euclid - named 3rd best in US. The majority of downtown has reopened following the protests in the summer. Transit will get you to Ohio City and Tremont. All in all downtown is a great place for your first year or two in Cleveland. You'll likely head to Ohio City/Tremont/Lakewood when you're 25.
